Japan, August 2016:  Japan has always been on my list of places to visit. I studied Japanese in highschool, I used to grow bonsai (still do!) and I always feel at peace in a Japanese garden. I’ve been drawn to the place for years – this idea of peace and harmony with nature. Perhaps this is not what most people think of when they think of Japan. Elders may think of the Imperial war machine of WWII, while people my age and younger may think of Anime, martial arts like karate and judo and of course, raw fish. OK – I went in expectation of raw fish too – and to party. Peace, fish and to party. I found all three.
